Choosing Birds As Pets : Section 1
BIRD BUYING QUESTIONS
When buying birds plan ahead. Decide what species of birds you want to keep
ASk YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS:
When buying 2 birds, are they compatible?
Are they hardy, easy to keep and breed?
How much space do they need?
What sort of aviary construction is needed?
What guage wire is needed?
What sort of diets do they need?
What diseases they are prone to?
Are they messy, destructive or noisy?
What permits do you need?
What records do you need to maintain?
Do you need to consider your neighbours?
Remember to pair your birds: give each a mate!
If you are a novice bird keeper, choose hardy, easy to keep, easy to breed species of birds, and limit the number and variety until you have gained a few years of experience!
